The Company

Northumberland Wildflowers produces
native Northumberland wild flower seed and plants. The company
was established in 2002 in response to a need for local origin
wild flower seed and plant stock.
Sustainability and the conservation of local biodiversity underpins
the company’s operations from the collection of original seed stock
to the delivery of our products. Northumberland Wildflowers is a signatory
to the industry Code of Practice which sets out sustainable methods of
wild seed collection, production and supply. The Code of Practice also
provides guidance on the maintenance of a good database to enable stock
traceability. All our stock is fully traceable to its origin.
Original seed stock is collected from local wild populations
(i.e. it is source-identified) and crop grown for seed. Seed is either
sold as it is or grown on as potted plants for sale. When sourcing materials
such as plant pots, compost and packaging we try to use locally produced
materials or local supply companies.
